Vialand / Türkiye
Details of the project.
Vialand combines a theme park with an exhibition center and retail shops. Located on a land of 600,000 sqm (approximately as big as 100 soccer fields) Vialand holds a significant importance in the entertainment sector of Turkey. The site of Vialand is located on a former coal mine. This mine is filled up with mud that pumped out from Golden Horn (Halic), to create a buildable site. The unstable ground on the south is operated with small units of booths and amusement vehicles of light construction while the retail and restaurants are situated on the upper north area which has stable ground properties.
Vialand has close connections to both TEM and E5 highways. Besides having a 200,000 sqm amusement park with more than 50 amusement units; it incorporates 250 retail stores with different national and international brands on 350,000 sqm areas, a 100,000 sqm exhibition center for 10,000 people and a parking space for 8,000 vehicles. In addition to these, it puts an aerated lagoon with public spaces, green parks, picnic areas, and walking trails into service. The retail areas are pedestrian friendly, while transportation is also available by domestic trams.
Vialand is accomplished by Gürsoy Grup & Via Properties Joint Venture with the support of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality with 1.5 billion TL investment value. The theme park is opened to public on 26 May 2013 and the opening ceremony had widespread media coverage.
